I really enjoyed the first book of the series but by now Riley Paige has basically become Batman, and Batman is not fun unless you are actually watching a Batman movie. The details leave a million loose ends, the story quite unrealistic, and the plot is very predictable even for low expectations.

I read the first book and it wasn’t bad, but this second one just had horrible writing. “That made me one scary bro...” was actually a line in this book. So was, “ I pulverized him...” some of the language sounded like it was meant for a much younger audience than it was. Add that to the bad grammar, missing whole words in sentences, and words getting repeated in the same sentence...I wanted to like it, I just couldn’t.

This was a very good thriller with the FBI chasing an unusual killer. A definite page turner but has just an bit of weird to it . It unfortunately for my taste has a cookie cutter type ending. Too much sugar for me not enough reality.

I started reading book one of the Riley Page mystery books on Monday and could not stop until I had finished the first three books in the series 2 days later. Very intense, well written, interesting, fast paced, and very, very realistic. You will like the main character, Riley Page, immediately. Having been a CIA profiler 50 years ago, I found the process that Riley uses in the stories to get inside the mind of a criminal, to be accurate and realistic.

This was a very good thriller with the FBI chasing an unusual killer. A definite page turner but has just an bit of weird to it . It unfortunately for my taste has a cookie cutter type ending. Too much sugar for me not enough reality.

I started reading book one of the Riley Page mystery books on Monday and could not stop until I had finished the first three books in the series 2 days later. Very intense, well written, interesting, fast paced, and very, very realistic. You will like the main character, Riley Page, immediately. Having been a CIA profiler 50 years ago, I found the process that Riley uses in the stories to get inside the mind of a criminal, to be accurate and realistic.

I really enjoyed the first book of the series but by now Riley Paige has basically become Batman, and Batman is not fun unless you are actually watching a Batman movie. The details leave a million loose ends, the story quite unrealistic, and the plot is very predictable even for low expectations.

I read the first book and it wasn’t bad, but this second one just had horrible writing. “That made me one scary bro...” was actually a line in this book. So was, “ I pulverized him...” some of the language sounded like it was meant for a much younger audience than it was. Add that to the bad grammar, missing whole words in sentences, and words getting repeated in the same sentence...I wanted to like it, I just couldn’t.

I really enjoyed the first book of the series but by now Riley Paige has basically become Batman, and Batman is not fun unless you are actually watching a Batman movie. The details leave a million loose ends, the story quite unrealistic, and the plot is very predictable even for low expectations.

Bad writing

I read the first book and it wasn’t bad, but this second one just had horrible writing. “That made me one scary bro...” was actually a line in this book. So was, “ I pulverized him...” some of the language sounded like it was meant for a much younger audience than it was. Add that to the bad grammar, missing whole words in sentences, and words getting repeated in the same sentence...I wanted to like it, I just couldn’t.

Not your standard horror novel...

This was easily one of the best horror and mystery novels I've read in a long time. No cheesy storylines or plot twists... this is dark and twisted. I actually felt scared while reading this, and not many books have that power over the reader. I look forward to the other books in the series!

Unusual thriller

This was a very good thriller with the FBI chasing an unusual killer. A definite page turner but has just an bit of weird to it . It unfortunately for my taste has a cookie cutter type ending. Too much sugar for me not enough reality.

I like Agent Paige and the idea of how she works on cases. However this constant "I'm going to run in alone and save the day" crap is predictable and gets old quick. I read the second book hoping it wouldn't be a repeat of the first... it was.

I love this series as an average reader. I like the author and how he writes. I personally thought this book could be shorter. However, the books always go deep and I think Blake can go deeper. Hopefully he's an author I've started with and makes it big!

The "Once" series are Intense

I started reading book one of the Riley Page mystery books on Monday and could not stop until I had finished the first three books in the series 2 days later. Very intense, well written, interesting, fast paced, and very, very realistic. You will like the main character, Riley Page, immediately. Having been a CIA profiler 50 years ago, I found the process that Riley uses in the stories to get inside the mind of a criminal, to be accurate and realistic.

Such an unbelievable, mixed up, poorly crafted book. Do not waste your money! Character development lacks depth, realism. The protagonist is a 40 year old FBI profiler with the thinking, emotional depth of a 12 year old.
